Measure phase

The token ledger to general ledger bridge

Measure, procedure
The bridge is the procedure that turns tagged token-ledger rows into a general-ledger addition to a token-built intangible. Development-phase rows for the period are aggregated and posted to the asset, with the ledger retained as support. It is the signature move of token capitalisation and the point where directly attributable cost becomes a carrying amount IAS 38.

Two books, one asset

The token ledger is granular and owned by engineering; the general ledger is periodic and owned by finance. The bridge is where they meet. It does not move raw telemetry into the general ledger. It moves a period aggregate of the development-phase, tagged rows, and leaves the detail behind as support.

Token ledger row
  • development-phase rows, tagged
  • priced per request
  • batch reference for the period
  • retained for audit
General-ledger entry
  • Dr Intangible asset
  • Cr Cost capitalised / clearing
  • one period addition, batch-referenced
  • traceable back to rows

The procedure, step by step

  1. Filter to development-phase rows. Select token-ledger rows tagged to the build and marked development phase; research and run rows fall to the profit and loss account.
  2. Aggregate for the period. Sum the priced cost of the selected rows for the reporting period to produce the period addition to the intangible.
  3. Post the addition. Debit the intangible asset for the build and credit the cost-capitalised or clearing account, referencing the ledger batch.
  4. Retain the supporting detail. Keep the underlying rows for the life of the asset and the audit period so the posting can be re-traced and re-priced.

Keeping the mapping auditable

The batch reference is the join that makes the posting testable: from the general-ledger addition, an auditor should be able to reach the exact set of rows behind it, re-sum them, and confirm they are all development phase and all tagged to the build. Reliable measurement is preserved only if that path stays open for the life of the asset IAS 38 §54-62.
